It's a dummy. The Emtek 455525 Rustic Modern Rectangular handleset has no latch, no deadbolt, and no cylinder, so it will not hold a door closed or lock. Use it on an inactive leaf of a double door, or on a door held shut by a separate roller catch, magnetic catch, or multipoint hardware. If you need the door to latch, order the keyed or passage version of the Rustic Modern Rectangular handleset instead.

No door prep is needed. The 455525 is surface mount, so it screws onto the face of the door with no cross bore or latch bore. That makes it a clean fix for a slab that was never prepped, or for covering nothing at all on a new inactive leaf.

Yes. Door thickness range is 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch, with 1-3/4 inch treated as the standard. Anything thicker than 1-3/4 inch has to be called out on the order using the Door Thickness field, since a thick door (common on exterior sandcast bronze applications) needs longer fasteners.

Center-to-center is 5-1/2 inches. That's the figure to check against an existing grip handleset if you're swapping one out and want the old fastener holes to line up.
