It works on doors 1-3/8 to 2 inches thick, with 1-3/4 inch treated as standard. Grip centers are 5-1/2 inch center-to-center, so the second bore for the lower grip has to match that spacing. If your door is already prepped for a standard tubular entry handleset, measure the backset from the door edge to the center of the bore and pick the matching option when ordering.
2) Is the Emtek 473111 single cylinder handleset keyed on both sides?
No. Single cylinder means one key cylinder, on the exterior grip only. The inside is operated without a key. That is the configuration most residential codes prefer on an entry door, since nobody needs a key to get out. If your door has glass within reach of the interior thumbturn and your inspector wants a double cylinder, the 473111 is not the part.
3) Can the Emtek Tuscany handleset be keyed alike with the rest of my Schlage keys?
Standard cylinder on the Tuscany 473111 is a Schlage C keyway, so it drops into a house or building already running Schlage C. Keying is handled at no charge when you order: pick keyed different or keyed alike, and if you have an existing bitting you can supply the key code so it matches what you already carry. Order more than one lock keyed alike and they all take the same key.
4) I have a Weiser key system already. Can I get an Emtek handleset on the Weiser keyway?
Yes, the Tuscany 473111 can be supplied with a Weiser WR5 keyway instead of the standard Schlage C, and Emtek charges nothing for the cylinder substitution. Ordered that way it keys into an existing Weiser system. The factory designates it by putting a W at the front of the product code.
5) Will the Emtek 473111 work on a 2 inch thick or custom thickness entry door?
Up to 2 inches, yes. The Tuscany 473111 covers 1-3/8 through 2 inch doors, and 1-3/4 inch ships as standard. Anything outside that standard has to be called out on the order so the factory sends the correct spindle and screw pack, and there is a door thickness field to enter it. Thick doors are common on custom and reclaimed entry slabs, so measure the slab rather than assuming.
6) What finishes does the Emtek 473111 Tuscany bronze handleset come in?
Two: Flat Black Bronze, ordered as 473111FB, and Medium Bronze, ordered as 473111MB. Both are lost wax cast bronze, a living finish that darkens and develops highlights where hands touch it, so a new one will not look identical to a ten-year-old grip on the next door. If you want the exterior and interior grips in different finishes, Emtek will split the finish on request.
