Emtek 5043-FB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the Emtek 5043 STRETTO dummy set actually do, and does it latch?
The 5043 STRETTO is a dummy function trim, so there is no latching or locking action. The knob or lever is fixed and serves as a pull. Use it on a closet door, a false door, or the inactive leaf of a pair where a ball catch or roller catch holds the door shut. If you need the door to latch when it closes, you need a passage function instead.
2) Is the Emtek 5043 single sided or does it come with trim for both faces of the door?
Single sided. The 5043 STRETTO dummy gives you one rectangular plate and one knob or lever for one face of the door only. If you want matching trim on both faces, you need two of them.
3) How narrow a stile will the Emtek 5043 rectangular trim fit?
The plate measures 1-1/2 x 11 inches, so it suits narrow stile doors, French doors, and glass front style leaves where a standard rosette is too wide. Door prep is narrow at 1-1/4 inches with 3-3/8 inch center-to-center hole spacing.
4) Do I have to specify handing on the Emtek 5043 STRETTO?
Handing is a required choice, right hand or left hand, and it matters for lever styles because the lever has to return toward the door. Knob selections are symmetrical in use, but the order form still asks for a hand.
5) What finishes does the Emtek STRETTO 5043 come in?
Three: Flat Black (FB), Medium Bronze (MB), and Tumbled White Bronze (TWB). All three are on solid brass trim, so they will sit alongside other Emtek brass collection hardware in the same finish.
6) Which knobs and levers can I put on the Emtek 5043 narrow trim plate?
Any Emtek brass knob or lever. The list runs ten levers (Aurora, Bryce, Cimarron, Cody, Durango, Lariat, Mariposa, Montrose, Teton, Yuma) and fifteen knobs including Butte, Egg, Round, Winchester, Bristol, Hampton, Lowell, Windsor, Astoria, Diamond, Georgetown, Modern Disc, Modern Square, Old Town, and Providence. Pick one to match the other openings in the house.
7) Is the Emtek 5043 STRETTO suitable for a commercial opening?
It is a residential product. For an office, school, or multi-family corridor door that needs a graded commercial lockset, look at a Grade 1 or Grade 2 cylindrical lock instead. The 5043 suits homes and residential-grade interior doors.
