Emtek Flush Bolts

That's exactly what they're for. Emtek flush bolts mount into the door edge of the inactive leaf of a pair, so the inactive door bolts to the head and the sill and becomes the strike for the active leaf. No center mullion needed. They come as a complete set with screws and strikeplate, so you get the hardware for the door edge and the mating strike in one box. You still need a lock or latch on the active leaf, since the flush bolt only secures the inactive door.

Emtek flush bolts come in 4 inch, 6 inch and 12 inch faceplate lengths. The 4 inch and 6 inch are the usual choices for a standard height door, top and bottom. The 12 inch is for a taller opening or where you want the operating lever farther down from the head so someone can reach the top bolt without a ladder. Order two per inactive leaf, one top and one bottom.

It's a complete set. Each Emtek flush bolt ships with the screws and the strikeplate, so nothing else is needed for the bolt itself. What you supply on the job is the mortise in the door edge, the drilled hole for the bolt rod, and the hole in the head jamb or the floor or threshold for the strike. Order one set for the top and one for the bottom of the inactive leaf.

No handing on an Emtek flush bolt. The faceplate and lever are symmetrical, so the same part goes in a left hand or right hand inactive leaf, top or bottom. That published backset and offset is what to work from when the edge condition is tight. The Emtek flush bolt is the brass door edge alternative and comes in square or 5/8 inch radius corners, so the visible end can be matched to the square end profile of the FB-1202.
