1-3/4 inches is the standard thickness these plates are built for, and that is the commercial and most common exterior door thickness. If your door is thicker than 1-3/4 inches, that has to be specified on the order so the screws suit the door. The plates are surface mounted, so no mortising or through-bore prep is involved.

For a school corridor, hospital or office entrance running thousands of cycles a day, go with a heavy duty commercial plate instead: the Ives 8302 pull plate mounts through-bolted, and the Trimco 1010 Series is a cast heavy duty plate. Both are built for that duty level; the Petal is chosen for its cast bronze appearance.

The Delaney 3-1/2" x 15" Door Pull Plate is a pull plate in the same 3-1/2 by 15 inch size as the Emtek Petal pull plate. The Emtek Petal pull plate is drilled to accept an 8 inch pull, and the pull is ordered separately from the plate.
