The RB714 is sized for 18-14 AWG stranded copper conductor. That's the blue-coded band in the standard terminal color system, so if your wire falls outside 18-14 AWG the crimp won't hold and you need the red (22-16) or yellow (12-10) terminal instead.

Yes. The RB714 ring tongue is made for 1/4 inch studs and screws, which covers most breaker lugs, ground screws, and terminal block studs in that range. On a smaller #10 or #8 screw the ring will sit loose under the head, so step down to the matching smaller stud size in the same 18-14 AWG series.

Use the ring. A ring tongue like the RB714 is a closed barrel that captures the stud, so it can't back off the screw if the fastener loosens under vibration. A fork or spade terminal slips off sideways once the screw backs out, which is why it's used where connections get swapped often rather than where they have to stay put. Many equipment specs and inspectors will only accept a ring on a vibrating or safety-critical connection.

Rated 600 V, so it's good for 120/208, 277, and 480 V circuits inside a panel or control enclosure. The nylon insulating sleeve carries that rating along with the crimp barrel.

The RB714 carries UL file E9809. That's the reference a plans examiner or electrical inspector will ask for when terminations on a listed assembly have to be documented.

The barrel is copper, so it is for copper conductors only. Terminating aluminum wire with a copper-only terminal creates a dissimilar-metal joint that corrodes and overheats; aluminum runs need a terminal marked AL or AL9CU.

Nylon insulation, as used on the RB714, handles higher temperatures and resists abrasion and crushing better than vinyl, and it won't split when the barrel is crimped or when the lead is flexed at the sleeve. In tight panel wiring where bundles rub or terminals get pulled, the nylon sleeve holds up where vinyl tears.

Crimp it with an insulated-terminal crimping tool using the blue die or nest. The blue sleeve on the RB714 identifies the 18-14 AWG die position on standard color-coded crimpers. Pliers or an uncalibrated tool will under-crimp the barrel and the joint will fail under pull-out.
