1) What wire gauge does the Sta-Kon RAD18277M female disconnect take?

Use a ring or fork terminal instead when the connection is a screw stud on a terminal block or ground point. A disconnect cannot be screwed down, and a ring terminal cannot slide onto a blade.
6) What metal is the terminal itself, and does that matter for the connection?
The conductor barrel and receptacle are brass. Brass gives you a solid crimp and good conductivity for low-current control and appliance circuits, and it is the standard choice on .187 disconnects.
