GMS Lock-Cylinders PR11-SC-26D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will a GMS PR11 double profile cylinder work with my existing Schlage C keys?
The PR11 is cut on the Schlage C keyway, so it drops into an existing Schlage C system and can be keyed alike or master keyed with the rest of those doors. If your building runs a different keyway (Kwikset KW1, Sargent LA, a restricted profile), this one will not accept those keys or those blanks, and you would need the cylinder in that keyway instead.
2) Is the GMS PR11 keyed on both sides or is one side a thumbturn?
Double profile cylinder means a keyed plug at each end, so you key it from the outside and from the inside. That is what you want on a glass storefront door or an exit door where you need key control on both faces. If you need thumbturn operation on the inside for egress or convenience, a double cylinder is the wrong part and you want a single cylinder with turn knob instead.
3) Is the GMS PR11 a small format interchangeable core cylinder?
No. The PR11 is a conventional cylinder, so it is pinned as a fixed unit and is serviced by taking the cylinder out and repinning it, not by pulling a core with a control key. If your facility standardized on SFIC so a locksmith can rekey a door in seconds without disassembly, this is not the part that fits that program.
4) Can a GMS PR11 profile cylinder be master keyed for a multi-tenant building?
Yes. Being a conventional cylinder on the Schlage C keyway, the PR11 is pinned by a locksmith into whatever master key system already runs on Schlage C, so a single master can cover it along with the Schlage-keyed mortise and cylindrical locks elsewhere in the building. Nothing about the profile format prevents that, the keying is determined by the plug and the keyway, not the cylinder body shape.
5) What finishes does the GMS PR11 profile cylinder come in?
Two finishes: 606 satin brass and 626 satin chrome. On a euro profile job the cylinder cam and the exposed plug faces are usually the only visible metal, so match 626 to the satin chrome or brushed nickel hardware already on the opening, and 606 where the door pulls and rails are brass. Both are the standard BHMA satin finishes, not a polished look.
