1) Will a GMS LFIC core work in my Schlage IC housing?
The GMS LFIC-SC-26D-B1 is a large format interchangeable core cut to the Schlage C keyway, so it drops into large format IC housings prepped for Schlage LFIC (the figure-eight core cavity). It is not a small format (SFIC/Best-style) core, so it will not seat in a 6/7-pin SFIC housing. Match the housing first: LFIC and SFIC cores are not interchangeable with each other.
2) Does the GMS LFIC Schlage C core come already keyed, or do I have to pin it?
It ships 0-bitted, meaning the core is unpinned and ready for a locksmith to pin to your bitting. It is a 6-pin core on the Schlage C keyway, so it can be pinned into an existing C keyway system. When ordering you pick the keying: no special keying (leave it 0-bitted), keyed different per core, or keyed alike across cores.
3) Can I get several of these cores keyed alike for one building?
Yes. Keyed alike is an order option on the GMS LFIC Schlage C core, applied per core, so a set ordered together operates on one key. Keyed different is the other option if each door needs its own key. For a property manager standardizing openings, keyed alike across a floor or a building section is handled at order time rather than at the lock.
4) Do I need a control key to swap these interchangeable cores out?
A control key is what retracts the core from the housing, and it is a separate order option on the GMS LFIC core: add a control key, or skip it if you already have the control key for your existing Schlage C system. Without one you cannot pull the core. If this is a new system with no control key on site, add one.
5) What size is the GMS large format IC core?
The core measures 1.44 inches by 1.08 inches, which is the standard large format figure-eight profile. Use those numbers to confirm against the core cavity you are replacing into: if your housing takes a smaller 6/7-pin small format core, this is the wrong body.
6) Is a 6-pin Schlage C core compatible with my existing masterkey system?
The core is 6-pin on the Schlage C keyway, the most common Schlage keyway in commercial buildings, and it arrives 0-bitted. That means a locksmith can pin it into an existing 6-pin Schlage C masterkey system directly. If your system runs a restricted or proprietary keyway rather than standard C, this core will not accept those keys.
