GMS 1-1/8" Mortise Thumbturn Cylinder, Adams Rite and Yale Standard Cam

The M118T ships with the standard Adams Rite cam, and the cam type covers both Adams Rite and Yale standard. That is the cam most storefront and narrow stile aluminum door deadlatches expect, so for a typical Adams Rite MS or deadlatch application it goes in as supplied with no cam swap.

A thumbturn cylinder has no keyway. The inside face is a turn knob, so anyone on the secure side throws or retracts the bolt by hand with no key. That is what you want on the interior side of a storefront deadlock or a double cylinder setup you are converting to single cylinder for egress. If you need key control from that side, you want a keyed mortise cylinder in the same 1-1/8 inch length, not this one.

Swap the interior keyed cylinder for the GMS M118T thumbturn and leave the exterior keyed cylinder in place. Both sides use the same 1-1/8 inch conventional mortise body and the same Adams Rite cam, so it is a like for like thread in. Check your local egress code first, since some jurisdictions require the turn on any door in the path of exit and others restrict thumbturns on certain occupancies.

Conventional mortise, threaded body with a cam on the back. It is not an interchangeable core and it does not take an IC housing. If your building is standardized on small format IC so one person can rekey doors by pulling cores, this cylinder does not belong to that system.

For a straight replacement in an existing mortise prep, no. The cylinder threads into the housing already in the door and the Adams Rite cam is on it. What you may need is the cylinder retaining screws or set screw if the old ones are lost, and a spacer ring if the old cylinder sat proud of the face. There is no key or keyway to specify here since the inside face is a turn.

Only if the lock is prepped for a standard threaded mortise cylinder in 1-1/8 inch length with an Adams Rite or Yale cam. Many all-glass and patch fitting locks use their own proprietary cylinder and strike arrangement, for example the Codelocks CL4000 and CL4500 glass door locks, which use a dedicated glass door strike box rather than standard commercial door prep. Confirm the lock body takes a conventional mortise cylinder before you order this one.

Two: 613 oil rubbed bronze and 626 satin chrome. 626 is the one that matches most commercial aluminum storefront hardware and standard lever trim, while 613 is for dark bronze anodized door frames. Pick the one that matches the exterior keyed cylinder on the same opening, since the pair is visible from both sides of the door.
