GMS Lock-Cylinders M100T-26D-AT – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the GMS M100T thumbturn cylinder work in an Adams Rite storefront lock?
Yes. The M100T is a 1 inch conventional mortise cylinder supplied with the standard Adams Rite cam, so it drops into Adams Rite style mortise prep on aluminum storefront doors. The cam also covers Yale standard cam applications, so the same part serves both without ordering a separate cam.
2) What is the difference between a thumbturn mortise cylinder and a keyed mortise cylinder?
A thumbturn cylinder like the GMS M100T has no keyway. You turn it by hand from the side it is installed on, which is how you get key outside, turn inside on a storefront deadlock or a mortise exit device. If you need the door operated by key from that face, you want a keyed mortise cylinder instead. The M100T is the inside half of that pairing.
3) Is a 1 inch mortise cylinder the right length for my door?
One inch is the standard mortise cylinder length for aluminum storefront and narrow stile doors, and that is what the M100T is built to. Thicker doors or lock bodies set deeper in the stile take a longer cylinder, typically 1-1/8 or 1-1/4 inch. Measure from the face of the lock housing or escutcheon to the back of the cylinder pocket before you order.
4) Can I use the GMS M100T to replace a worn thumbturn on an existing storefront deadlock?
If the existing cylinder is a 1 inch conventional mortise thumbturn with an Adams Rite or Yale standard cam, the M100T is a direct swap. Thread the old one out, thread the new one in, set the cam clocking to the lock. Where the lock takes an interchangeable core or a proprietary cam shape, this is not the part.
5) Do I need to order a separate cam for the GMS M100T?
No. The M100T ships with the standard Adams Rite cam installed, which also serves Yale standard cam applications. Nothing extra to specify on the order beyond finish.
6) What finishes does the GMS M100T thumbturn cylinder come in?
Three finishes: 605 bright brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, and 626 satin chrome. On storefront work 626 is the usual match to clear and dark anodized aluminum trim, and 613 pairs with dark bronze anodized frames.
