GMS Lock-Cylinders ICSR-26D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the GMS ICSR rim housing come with a core, or do I need to supply my own?
The ICSR is the housing (shell) only. It is an LFIC rim housing, so it accepts a large format interchangeable core that you supply or key separately. Order the core, the control key and the operating keys on their own.
2) What cam does the GMS ICSR LFIC rim housing use?
It is supplied for Adams Rite and Yale cam applications. That is the detail that decides whether it will drive the exit device or lock you are mounting it to, so match the device's required cam before ordering.
3) Can I use the GMS ICSR to bring an existing exit device onto our interchangeable core master key system?
That is exactly what it is for. Swapping the standard rim cylinder on the device for the ICSR LFIC housing lets the opening take a large format interchangeable core, so it joins the same master key system as the rest of your LFIC openings and can be rekeyed at the door with a control key. Confirm the device uses an Adams Rite or Yale style cam, since that is what this housing is built for.
4) Will a small format interchangeable core fit the GMS ICSR housing?
No. The ICSR is a large format interchangeable core housing, and SFIC cores (the figure-eight Best style) will not seat in it. For an SFIC system you need an SFIC rim housing instead.
5) I need to match satin chrome hardware on the rest of my doors - what finishes does the GMS ICSR come in?
Three finishes: 626 satin chrome, 606 satin brass, and 613 oil rubbed bronze. 626 is the usual match for commercial aluminum storefront and Grade 1 exit device trim, so that is the one most property managers standardize on across a building.
6) Should I buy a rim cylinder housing or a mortise cylinder for my exit device?
Rim and mortise are not interchangeable. A rim cylinder like the GMS ICSR mounts from the inside face of the door with two screws through a back plate and drives the device through a tailpiece; a mortise cylinder threads into a tapped hole and drives a cam. Rim devices and most surface vertical rod and rim exit devices take the rim style. If your device has a threaded cylinder opening, you want a mortise cylinder instead.
