The 5300 Series surface closer is adjustable through sizes 1 to 6 and handles doors up to 250 lbs, so one part number covers everything from a light interior door to a heavy exterior entrance. You set the spring power on the closer itself rather than ordering a fixed size, which is why it works well when a facility wants one closer on the shelf for a range of openings. 2) Can I use a Hager 5300 closer on a fire rated door?

5) I need the door to stop before it hits the wall. Which Hager 5300 arm do I order?
Pick a stop arm instead of the Tri-Pack. The 5300 offers an Extra Heavy Duty Stop Arm (HDS) 5907, an Extra Heavy Duty Cushion Stop Arm (HDCS) 5957 if you want the stop cushioned, and pull side versions, the Pull Side Stop Arm (PSS) 5926, for regular mount openings. Add hold open and you are at HDHOS 5906, HDHOCS 5956, or PSHOS 5927. The plain Hold Open Arm (HO) 5910 holds the door open but does not stop it, so it will not protect the wall on its own.
6) Can I slow the Hager 5300 down for a wheelchair accessible door?
Yes.
