The SDS389 has an SDS-Plus shank, so it drops into any SDS-Plus rotary hammer without a chuck or setscrew. It will not fit an SDS-Max or spline-drive hammer, those take a larger shank. If your tool is a standard keyed or keyless drill chuck, this bit is the wrong shank type for it.
