1) Can Oatey Hercules Sta Put plumbers putty be used on marble, granite, or other stone countertops?
No. Sta Put putty is not for use on porous materials, so it should not go on marble, granite, or other natural stone where the oils can bleed into the surface and stain it. For a stone deck or a stone sink, use a silicone sealant instead. On non-porous surfaces like stainless steel, enameled cast iron, china, and plastic it works as intended.
2) What can I use Oatey 25110 plumbers putty for on a plumbing job?
Sta Put putty is for setting bowls, fixtures, faucets, basin cocks, strainers, plugs and sink frames, plus general sealing and caulking. In practice that means bedding a sink strainer, sealing a pop-up drain flange in a lavatory bowl, and setting a faucet base or escutcheon on a non-porous deck. It is a non-mastic putty that forms a watertight seal.
3) Is a 7 lb tub of plumbers putty too much for one sink, or does it make sense for an MRO stockroom?
