HES 2007M – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the HES 2007M work on a 12 volt or 24 volt DC strike circuit?
Both. The 2007M is rated 12V DC and 24V DC, so it suits either of the common HES electric strike supply voltages without changing the part.
2) What is the difference between the HES 2007M pigtail and the 2004M ElectroLynx adapter?
Different jobs. The 2007M is a plain plug-in pigtail with 4 inch wire leads for terminating an HES strike. The 2004M is an adapter between existing HES electric strikes and ElectroLynx connectors, so that is the one to order when the door harness is an ElectroLynx system. If the opening is not on ElectroLynx, the 2007M is the connector.
3) I need to run an HES strike off an AC transformer. Does the 2007M convert the power?
No. The 2007M only makes the connection, it does no power conversion. For AC to unfiltered DC, HES offers the 2001M rated 35 V, 1 Amp with an MOV and self-resettable fuse, and the 2001-1 rated 35 V, 2 Amp; neither is recommended for the 1006 electric strike. Order the rectifier and the pigtail separately if you need both.
4) Is the HES 2007M pigtail connector a power supply for an electric strike?
No. The HES 2007M is an electric strike part - a plug-in pigtail connector with 4 inch wire leads, rated for 12V DC and 24V DC strike circuits. It carries power to the strike; it does not produce it. If the job needs the source itself, the Adams Rite 4605 is a regular transformer taking 115 VAC to 12/24 VAC with a 40 volt-amp output. The 2007M lands on the strike side of that wiring, the 4605 upstream of it.
5) I need to get power across the opening to a door-mounted device - will an HES 2007M do it?
No. The HES 2007M terminates a strike connection in the frame with 4 inch wire leads and is catalogued for 12V DC and 24V DC electric strike use. Power transfer through the opening itself is a different device: the RCI 9500/9501 series is a mortise pin transfer with a tamper-resistant design rated 1.5A at 24VAC. Use the pin transfer to bridge frame to door, and the 2007M at the strike termination.
6) Is HES part 131047 the same thing as the 2007M?
Same part. HES lists 131047 as the alternate part number for the 2007M plug-in pigtail connector with 4 inch leads, so an order or a spec written either way lands on the same connector.
7) Which HES accessory gives an audible indication that the strike released, and is that the 2007M?
Not the 2007M, which is only a wiring pigtail. The audible operation indicator is the HES 2006M, which sounds at 24VDC and produces 75db at 11-3/4 inches. Spec that alongside the pigtail if the job calls for an audible release cue.
8) Does ordering the HES 2007M include anything for mounting or templating the strike?
The 2007M is the connector alone, one per package. Jamb prep and mounting are separate accessories in the HES line: the HESCUT-MTK metal template kit covers the 1006, 1500, 1600, 4500, 5000, 5200, 7000 and 7501 strikes at 4-7/8 inch ANSI jamb preparations, the 9000-MTK is the metal template installation kit, and the SMB is a surface mounting box. Add those to the order if the opening needs them.
9) What do I use instead of the HES 2007M if the opening needs an audible signal rather than a wiring connection?
The HES 2007M is a connector - it makes the electrical joint and nothing else. For an audible at the door, the Adams Rite 29-0218 is a piezo electric horn with multi-voltage compatibility, and the RCI 914 series is a delayed egress sounder with field-selectable volume output up to 102dB. A 2007M can be part of the same 12V DC or 24V DC circuit those devices sit on, but it does not replace either one.
10) My strike wiring has nowhere to land on the surface - is the HES 2007M the housing I need?
No. The HES 2007M is a plug-in pigtail connector, an installation accessory that terminates wire, not an enclosure. For a surface housing, the Cal-Royal 8641-SM is a single gang surface mount box in the 8600 series, and Securitron offers the SAM surface mount kit accessories along with the SWB SAM wood bracket. Those give the device a body to sit in; the 2007M is the connection made inside it.
11) If I am wiring several access control outputs, do I need HES 2007M connectors or a relay board?
They answer different halves of the same run. The HES 2007M is a commercial-grade plug-in pigtail connector with 4 inch wire leads for 12V DC and 24V DC electric strikes, made up at the device. The Locknetics RDB4 is a 4 output relay distribution board, supplied as board only, and handles the switching side of a multi-output run. A panel using an RDB4 can still terminate each strike with a 2007M.
12) Can an HES 2007M add request-to-exit signaling to an exit device?
No - the 2007M is a connector, not a switch. Request to exit is added with a switch kit matched to the device: Command Access CRSREXKIT-ED is a field installable request to exit kit for Cal Royal 22/98 and Sargent 80 series with an SPDT switch, CYREXKIT-ED is a field REX kit for Corbin 5000 and Yale 7000 exit devices with a 5A rating, and REX-KIT-ML is a request to exit kit for ML1-series mortise locks. Latchbolt monitoring on Schlage L9000 mortise locks uses the Command Access SCHLBMKIT-ML in an SPDT configuration.
13) Is the HES 2007M connector suitable for commercial door hardware use?
Yes, it is a commercial Grade 1 accessory in the HES electric strike accessory line, so it belongs on the same openings as HES commercial strikes rather than on residential trim.
14) Does the HES 2007M work on an all-glass door opening?
