HES OPT-1DLM – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the HES OPT-1DLM fit an HES 1006 or 9600 strike, or only the 1500 and 1600?
Only the 1500 and 1600 Series. The OPT-1DLM is built for those two strike bodies, so if the opening has a different HES strike model, this kit is the wrong part and you need the monitoring option listed for that series.
2) Is the HES OPT-1DLM something I can add to a strike already installed in the frame, or does it have to be factory ordered?
It's an installation accessory, meaning it's supplied as a kit to be fitted to the 1500 or 1600 Series strike rather than being a separate device on the door. Plan on pulling the strike to fit it, the same way you would with a field switch kit like the Command Access SCHLBMKIT-ML for Schlage L9000 mortise locks.
3) Does the HES OPT-1DLM come in different versions or finishes I have to pick?
There's one configuration, OPT-1DLM. No handing, no finish choice, no length to specify. Match it to a 1500 or 1600 Series strike and that's the whole ordering decision.
4) Is the HES OPT-1DLM rated for commercial traffic, or is it a light-duty part?
Grade 1, commercial. That's the heaviest ANSI/BHMA duty tier, which is what a spec on a school, hospital, or multi-family entry typically calls for. By comparison, some access control accessories we carry are Grade 2, such as the Securitron Glass Door Accessories.
5) Do I still need a power supply and wiring if I add the OPT-1DLM monitor kit?
The kit is the monitoring hardware only, it doesn't bring power with it. The 1500 and 1600 Series strike still needs its own supply, and the monitor output has to be run back to your panel. If you need a low voltage source for the opening, the Adams Rite 4605 transformer takes 115 VAC to 12 or 24 VAC with a 40 volt-amp output.
6) Is the HES OPT-1DLM a commercial grade part, and how does that compare to Securitron glass door accessories?
The OPT-1DLM is a commercial Grade 1 electronic accessory. Securitron Glass Door Accessories are listed at Grade 2 and are the hardware set for glass door openings. The grade difference tracks the different opening each is built around, so the choice follows the door and frame in front of you rather than the grade number alone.
