Houzer 629807 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Houzer 629807 bottom grid fit any Houzer sink, or only certain models?
The 629807 Wirecraft grid is cut for two sinks only: the Houzer Quartztone granite models M-300 and M-300U. It is not a universal grid. If your bowl is a different Houzer model or another brand, measure the bowl floor first, because a grid sized for a different basin will either rock or wedge against the walls.
2) What size is the Houzer 629807 sink grid, and how do I know it will clear my drain and disposal?
It measures 11-5/8 x 13-13/16 x 1 inches. Compare those footprint numbers against the flat floor area of your bowl, not the rim opening, since the bowl walls taper in. The 1 inch height is the standing height on its feet, so there is roughly that much clearance between the grid and the bowl floor for water to drain around it.
3) Does a bottom grid actually help with a granite composite sink, or is it only for stainless?
It matters more on composite. On a Quartztone granite bowl the grid keeps pots and plates off the bowl surface so they do not scuff or chip it, and it cushions glassware. The plastic feet also keep the grid from sliding, which cuts the clatter while you are washing. Houzer sized this one specifically for the M-300 and M-300U granite bowls.
4) Does the Houzer 629807 grid need any mounting hardware or installation?
No install work at all. It drops into the bowl and rests on its own feet, so there is nothing to drill, clip, or fasten. That also means you can pull it out to clean under it, which you should do periodically so food does not sit between the grid and the bowl.
5) Is the Houzer 629807 grid stainless steel, and will it rust sitting in a wet sink?
The grid is stainless steel and the feet are plastic, so nothing in the assembly is painted or plated steel that can blister. Stainless grids do pick up surface staining if iron cookware or steel wool is left sitting on them, so lift the grid out and rinse it rather than leaving debris trapped under it.
6) What finish does the 629807 Houzer bottom grid come in?
One finish only, satin stainless steel. There is no polished or coated version of this grid, so if you are outfitting several kitchens in a building every unit will look the same, which is useful when you are standardising sink accessories across apartments.
