1) Which Houzer sinks does the BG-3200 bottom grid actually fit?
The BG-3200 Wirecraft grid is cut for two Houzer bowls only: the MC-3210 and the STC-2200. It is not a universal grid. If your bowl is any other Houzer model, or another brand entirely, this one will either bind on the radius or float loose around the drain opening, so match the sink model number before ordering.
2) What size is the Houzer BG-3200 sink grid, and will it clear my bowl?
Overall it measures 15-9/16 x 16-5/16 x 1 inches. That 1 inch height is the standing height on its feet, so it lifts dishes off the bowl floor by about that much. Check the footprint against the flat bottom area of your bowl, not the rim opening, since the grid has to sit down inside the radius.
3) Will a Houzer bottom grid fit an undermount sink from another brand if the dimensions are close?
Not reliably, and it is worth being blunt about it. Bottom grids are cut to a specific bowl's corner radius and drain location. The BG-3200 is built around the MC-3210 and STC-2200 bowls. Even when the length and width look close on another brand's sink, a different corner radius will keep it from seating flat, and an offset or rear drain will put the grid's drain cutout in the wrong place. Buy the grid that matches the sink model you own.
4) Does a bottom grid like the Houzer BG-3200 stop a stainless sink from getting scratched?
That is its main job. The grid keeps pots, cast iron, and cutlery off the sink floor so the abrasion happens on the grid rather than the bowl surface, and it cushions glassware that gets set down hard. Plastic feet hold it in position and take the clatter out of the bowl while you wash. It also lets water run under the dishes to the drain instead of pooling.
