Houzer BG-7400 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Houzer sink does the BG-7400 bottom grid fit?
The BG-7400 Wirecraft bottom grid is cut to fit the Houzer PTU-2400 sink bowl and nothing else. Houzer sizes these grids per bowl, so if your sink is a different Houzer model the grid will either rock on the bowl radius or sit short of the walls. Check the model stamp or the spec sheet on your sink before ordering.
2) Will a bottom grid actually stop a stainless sink from getting scratched and rattling?
That is the job of it. The BG-7400 keeps pots, pans and cast iron off the sink floor so the basin surface does not pick up scratches, and the plastic feet hold the grid off the steel so you get less noise and movement while you wash. It also gives fragile dishes something to land on instead of bare steel.
3) Does the BG-7400 need any hardware or drilling to install?
No install work at all. The BG-7400 sets into the bowl and rests on its own plastic feet, so there is nothing to fasten, drill or plumb. Lift it out for cleaning and drop it back in. It is a kitchen sink accessory, not a plumbing connection.
4) I manage rental units with Houzer PTU-2400 sinks. Can I standardize on one grid across them?
Yes, if the bowls are all PTU-2400 the BG-7400 is the one grid that fits them, and it ships in a single satin stainless finish so every unit looks the same. It is a cheap way to keep tenant-damaged basin bottoms from turning into sink replacements.
5) Is the Houzer BG-7400 grid a stainless steel one or coated wire?
It is bare stainless steel wire, not vinyl or PVC coated, with plastic feet at the contact points. Stainless holds up to water, food acids and cleaning chemicals, which is what you want in a kitchen bowl that gets daily use. No coating means nothing to peel off over time.
