1) Which Brady printer do these XPS-125-1 sleeves run in?
They are made for the IDXPERT handheld label maker. The cartridge is an all-in-one that carries both the sleeve supply and the ribbon, so you don't buy ribbon separately. Printing is thermal transfer, black on white sleeve.
2) Will these wire sleeves hold up in a rooftop unit or an unheated mechanical room?
Service range runs -67 F to 275 F (-55 C to 135 C), so outdoor rooftop and unconditioned spaces are within range. The polyolefin is UV, humidity, weather, chemical and corrosion resistant, and the printing is smear resistant, which is why the legend survives where a wrap-around adhesive label would lift or fade.
3) Should I use heat shrink sleeves or self-laminating wrap labels for panel wire marking?
Heat shrink sleeves like the XPS-125-1 have to be slid on before the conductor is terminated, so they suit new panel builds, harnesses and anywhere the marker must be permanent and tamper proof. Once shrunk 3:1 they won't unwrap, slide or peel. If the wire is already landed on both ends, you can't use a sleeve at all, that job calls for a wrap-around or self-laminating label instead.
4) Are Brady XPS-125-1 PermaSleeve markers flame retardant for use in a control panel?
Yes, the polyolefin is flame retardant as well as heat shrinkable. Brady lists the material (B-342) against ASTM D 2671, ASTM E 162, ASTM E 662, ASTM G 155, MIL-STD-202, SAE-AMS-DTL-23053 and SAE-AS-81531 for industry compliance.
