1) What wire size does the Sta-Kon RL9751 ring terminal take?
The RL9751 is sized for 3/0 AN wire. It is a single-size crimp lug, so it won't hold smaller conductors reliably even with a heat-shrink sleeve over it. If your conductor is a different gauge, step to the Sta-Kon part built for that size rather than crimping this one down.
2) Is the barrel on this ring terminal copper or aluminum?
Copper. The RL9751 is a copper-barrel lug with nylon insulation, so it is intended for copper conductors, not aluminum. Aluminum feeders need an AL9CU rated connector instead.
3) Is the Sta-Kon RL9751 UL listed?
It is covered under UL file E9809. For inspected commercial and institutional work that file reference is what an AHJ or spec reviewer looks for on an insulated terminal.
4) Do I need a special crimper for the Sta-Kon RL9751, or will pliers work?
Pliers are not an option on a lug this size. A 3/0 copper barrel requires a hydraulic or heavy mechanical crimper with the correct die for the barrel; the UL E9809 coverage on this terminal applies to a properly crimped connection, so a hand-squeezed joint is both electrically and code-wise a problem. The tool and die are separate items from the terminal.
5) Why is this Sta-Kon terminal red, and does the color mean anything?
The insulation on the RL9751 is red. On Sta-Kon insulated terminals the sleeve color identifies the wire range the barrel is built for, so matching color is a quick field check that you grabbed the right lug for 3/0 AN conductors. It is not a phase or voltage marking.
