Dormakaba 74366000 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Which Simplex locks does the Dormakaba 74366-000-01 combination chamber fit?
The 74366-000-01 combination chamber is a service part for Simplex 1000, L1000, 8100 and 3000 Series mechanical pushbutton locks. If the lock on your door is one of those families, this is the chamber that goes in it. It won't serve any other Dormakaba pushbutton line.
2) What does the combination chamber actually do inside a Simplex pushbutton lock?
The combination chamber is the mechanism behind the buttons that holds the code and releases the lock when the right sequence is pressed. It is the part you replace when the buttons still move but the lock no longer recognises the combination, or when you need to restore code function without swapping the whole lockset. Dormakaba catalogues this one as chamber M-56 / M-63.
3) How do I order the right Simplex combination chamber for a 1000 Series lock?
Order by the Dormakaba part number, 74366-000-01, model 74366000. It's a single part with no handing, finish or size choices to specify, because the chamber sits inside the lock body where nothing is visible. Match the part number against the Simplex series on your door: 1000, L1000, 8100 or 3000.
4) I have several Simplex pushbutton locks in my building. Can one chamber part cover them all?
One part number covers a lot of ground here. The 74366-000-01 chamber serves the Simplex 1000, L1000, 8100 and 3000 Series, so a property with a mix of those pushbutton locks can stock this single chamber as a spare rather than a different one per lock family. Check the series stamped on each lock before you standardise on it.
5) Is the Dormakaba Simplex combination chamber rated for commercial door traffic?
It is a commercial-duty part, specified for commercial door hardware use. Simplex 1000 and L1000 pushbutton locks are the ones that show up on stairwells, storage rooms, back-of-house and equipment rooms in commercial buildings, and this chamber is the code mechanism inside them.
