Kawneer KW033536-17 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Kawneer KW033536-17 exit device package right-hand or left-hand?
It comes factory configured for right-hand door applications. Handing is fixed, so it is not a field-reversible package. If the door you are servicing is left-hand or left-hand reverse, this part number is the wrong one and you need the opposite-hand Falcon 2090 service part from Kawneer.
2) Is this a complete exit device or just replacement parts?
It is a service parts package, not a new complete device. Kawneer supplies it as a replacement package containing components to restore or finish out a Falcon 2090 rim device already on the opening. If you are hanging new doors with no existing 2090 hardware, order a complete rim exit device instead.
3) What finish is the Kawneer KW033536-17 Falcon 2090 package, and will it match aluminum storefront doors?
Clear Aluminum. That is the standard match for mill-finish aluminum storefront and commercial aluminum door framing, so it blends with existing entrance hardware on those openings. There is no other finish under this part number, so a dark bronze or anodized black opening will not match.
4) Is the Kawneer KW033536-17 suitable for high-traffic commercial egress doors?
Yes, it is classified for commercial use, not residential, and is intended for high-use door hardware environments such as schools, healthcare corridors, retail entrances, and government buildings maintaining egress hardware. It is an OEM part, so the device keeps its original configuration after the repair.
5) Why order the Kawneer part number instead of a generic Falcon 2090 repair part?
Kawneer entrance systems are serviced through the Kawneer Service Parts program, and KW033536-17 is the designation that ties the Falcon 2090 rim device components to that program. Ordering by the Kawneer number is how a property manager or integrator keeps a fleet of Kawneer aluminum entrances standardized on parts that match what was originally installed.
