Kawneer KW033537-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Kawneer KW033537-29 a complete exit device package or just a single replacement part?
KW033537-29 ships as a complete Falcon 2090 rim exit device package for a pair of doors, not a loose component. That means you order one part number instead of piecing together individual bits, and the hardware for both leaves arrives coordinated. It is a Kawneer service part, so it matches the OEM hardware that came on the opening.
2) Will the KW033537-29 package work on a single door, or only a pair?
It is configured for a pair of doors. The package is built so both leaves get the correct hardware and operate together, so on a single-door opening you would be buying parts you cannot use. For one leaf, order the single-door Falcon 2090 rim device package instead.
3) I need to repair an existing Falcon 2090 rim device on a pair of doors. Is this the OEM part or an aftermarket copy?
This is a genuine Kawneer service part, supplied as OEM for Falcon 2090 rim exit devices. For a property manager or MRO buyer standardizing on what is already hung in the building, that matters: the mounting points and operation match the original installation rather than approximating it.
4) What finish is the Kawneer Falcon 2090 pair-door exit device package?
Black, applied at the factory. If the other openings in the building are already running black Falcon 2090 hardware, this drops in without a finish mismatch between leaves. There is no other finish under this part number, so a bronze or clear anodized opening needs a different Kawneer service part number.
5) Does a rim exit device need extensive door prep compared with other exit device types?
No. A rim device mounts to the face of the door and latches into a strike at the head or on the adjoining leaf, so it avoids the routing a mortise device needs and the top and bottom rod prep a vertical rod device needs. That is the main reason rim devices are the usual choice for retrofit work on existing commercial aluminum and hollow metal doors.
6) Is this Falcon 2090 package suitable for a high-traffic commercial entrance, or is it light-duty?
It is a commercial product, catalogued for high-traffic egress duty in offices, schools, healthcare, retail, warehouses, multi-tenant residential and government buildings. It is not a residential item.
