Kawneer KW033535-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Kawneer KW033535-29 exit device package handed, and which hand does it fit?
It is built left-handed. The KW033535-29 Falcon 2090 rim exit device package is supplied for left-hand door applications and needs no field modification to suit that hand. If your opening is right-handed, this is the wrong part number, order the right-hand version of the package instead.
2) Will the KW033535-29 package work on any brand of rim exit device?
No. This package is made for Falcon 2090 series rim exit devices only. It is a genuine Kawneer service part matched to that platform, so it is not a generic rim device kit and should not be fitted to another manufacturer's device or another Falcon series.
3) What finish does the Kawneer Falcon 2090 rim exit device package come in?
Black. That is the only finish this part number is supplied in, so if the rest of the doors in your building are aluminum or dark bronze, the hardware will not visually match. Property managers standardizing a set of openings should confirm the existing devices are black before ordering.
4) Is this a complete exit device or just a repair part?
It is sold as a replacement package, a service part for Falcon 2090 rim exit device installations rather than a new device with trim and strike selected to a spec. Facilities teams use it to restore or complete an existing 2090 opening. If you are hanging a new door with no device on it, you want a full rim exit device specified to the opening, not a service package.
5) How do I identify the right Kawneer Falcon 2090 service part when ordering?
Order by the Kawneer part number, KW033535-29, and confirm two things against the door: the device is a Falcon 2090 rim exit device, and the opening is left-handed. Finish on this number is black. Those three points (series, hand, finish) are what separate this package from the adjacent Kawneer service part numbers.
6) Is the Kawneer KW033535-29 suitable for commercial buildings or is it residential hardware?
Commercial. The package is classed as commercial-grade exit device hardware and is used in office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, industrial and warehouse space, multi-tenant residential properties, and government buildings, the kind of traffic egress hardware sees every day.
