Kawneer KW033542-40 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the KW033542-40 mullion work with any rim exit device, or only Falcon 2090?
Kawneer specifies this mullion assembly for the Falcon 2090 rim panic. If your doors carry a different rim device brand or series, match the mullion to that device instead, since strike location and mounting on the mullion are set up for the 2090.
2) What height is the Kawneer KW033542-40 mullion, and will it suit my storefront opening?
The assembly is 82-7/16 inches tall, which suits a full-height commercial aluminum storefront opening. Measure your existing mullion or the frame opening height before ordering; if your opening is a different height, this fixed-length assembly won't drop in.
3) Should I use a removable mullion or a vertical rod device on my pair of doors?
A removable mullion lets you keep simple rim panics on both leaves, which are cheaper to maintain and easier to adjust than rod hardware, and you can take the post out when you need the full opening. Surface or concealed vertical rod devices give you a permanently clear opening with no center post, but the hardware on each leaf is more complex. If your doors already run the Falcon 2090 rim panic, the KW033542-40 mullion keeps that setup and avoids changing out the devices.
4) Does the Kawneer mullion come in a finish that matches dark bronze storefront framing?
Dark Bronze, factory applied, so it coordinates with dark bronze anodized aluminum storefront framing and matching door hardware. It's supplied in that one finish.
5) Is the KW033542-40 a genuine Kawneer part or an aftermarket copy?
It's an authenticated Kawneer service part, model KW033542-40, supplied for replacement and maintenance on existing Kawneer openings. That matters when a facility is standardizing on Kawneer entrances and wants the same fit and finish as the original.
6) Is this mullion rated for commercial traffic, or is it a light-duty part?
It's a commercial part, built for daily use on high-traffic paired egress doors: office building entries, school corridors, healthcare entries, retail storefronts, and municipal exit corridors. It is not a residential item.
