Kawneer KW913413 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Kawneer KW913413 cylinder fit a Kawneer 990 sliding door?
Yes. The KW913413 is a genuine Kawneer service part made specifically for the 990 Sliding Door system, so it drops into the existing lock prep and works with the door's thumbturn without modification.
2) What does keyed alike mean on the Kawneer KW913413 cylinder, and can I key several doors to one key?
Keyed alike means cylinders ordered this way all operate on the same key. If you have several 990 sliding door openings, or a multi-point setup, one key will run all the KW913413 cylinders, which is why property managers and MRO buyers standardize on it rather than keeping separate keys per opening.
3) Does the KW913413 come with the thumbturn, or do I order that separately?
The KW913413 is the lock cylinder itself. It is configured for use with a thumbturn on the 990 sliding door, giving keyless operation from the inside and key control outside, but the thumbturn is a separate component from the cylinder.
4) My 990 sliding door lock stopped turning with the key. Is the cylinder the part I need?
If the key no longer turns or the key has been lost, replacing the cylinder is the usual fix, and the KW913413 is the OEM replacement cylinder for the 990 Sliding Door. It restores key function without touching the rest of the lock hardware. If the problem is the interior thumbturn or the latching mechanism itself, that is a different service part.
5) Is this Kawneer cylinder suitable for a high-traffic commercial entrance?
Yes, it is a commercial-rated part intended for sliding door installations in demanding, high-traffic settings such as retail storefronts, healthcare access points, schools, and government buildings.
