2) How much room do I need on my gate frame for a Keedex K-BXCOB lock box?
Plan on a footprint of 5-1/2 inches wide by 10-1/2 inches high, with 1-3/4 inches of depth off the frame face. On a tube-frame gate that depth is what usually decides it, so check the gap between the box and any adjacent post or latch hardware before you weld.
3) Should I order the Keedex K-BXCOB lock box in steel or aluminum?
Two materials are offered: 14 gauge steel and .125 aluminum. Pick the one that matches your gate frame so you can weld like to like. Steel goes on a steel tube gate and takes paint or powder coat; the aluminum box is for aluminum frames where a steel box would have to be mechanically fastened instead of welded.
4) Will the K-BXCOB work with a 2-3/8 inch backset lock?
No. The K-BXCOB is prepped at a 2-3/4 inch backset. If the lock you are mounting is a 2-3/8 inch backset unit, the cylinder and spindle holes will not line up and you need a box prepped for that backset instead.
5) Does the Keedex K-BXCOB come with a lock or any trim?
The box is the enclosure only. It houses and protects the Schlage Cobra lock on a gate frame; the lock itself, the cylinder, and any pull or trim are separate purchases. Order the box to match your frame material and the lock to match your keying.
