Keedex K-DLA Armored Door Loop, 3/8" Diameter, Flex 24"

An armored door loop carries low voltage wiring across the gap between the door frame and the door, so power can reach an electric strike, electrified lock, or exit device on a swinging door. The Keedex K-DLA uses a flexible armored conduit that bends with the door every time it swings, protecting the conductors from being pinched, cut, or pulled apart at the hinge side. It is the wire route, not the wire itself.

That length gives you room to route from a frame junction back to the door prep without stretching the loop at full swing, which is what kills a short loop over time. Measure your frame-to-door run at maximum door opening, not with the door closed, then pick the length that leaves slack.

The K-DLA is the armored conduit assembly with a 1/4 inch inside diameter passage. You pull your own low voltage conductors through it, sized to the load you are feeding, whether that is an electric strike, a mag lock, or an electrified lever. Plan the conductor count and gauge before you order, because the 1/4 inch inside diameter is what limits how much you can pull.

An armored loop like the Keedex K-DLA mounts on the surface at the hinge side and takes about 20 minutes with a drill and two screws, no door or frame machining. A concealed transfer requires mortising both the door edge and the frame, so it is a job for a shop or a new install, but nothing shows when the door is closed. For retrofit work, an existing opening you cannot pull and machine, or a hollow metal door already hung, the surface loop is the practical choice. On a high-security or aesthetically sensitive opening where the exposed loop is unacceptable, go concealed.

It fits the application, with one thing to check. The 3/8 inch conduit mounts to the frame face and the door face at the hinge side, so it does not depend on stile width the way a lock or exit device does. What you do need is enough flat surface on both the frame and the door face to land the end fittings clear of the hinge and any weatherstripping, and a path into the door interior for the conductors to reach the hardware.

Across doors with similar frame-to-door geometry, yes. The K-DL series loop is defined by two numbers, conduit diameter and flex length, so once you have confirmed a 3/8 inch, 24 inch loop clears the swing on one opening, the same part repeats on every matching opening. Order the finish to match each frame rather than the part number, since aluminum, black, and duranodic are all the same loop. Openings with an unusually deep reveal or a wider gap may need a longer flex.

Commercial, yes. The K-DL series armored loop is built for commercial openings, which is the environment where a door gets cycled hundreds of times a day and an unprotected wire jumper would fail in weeks. That is the traffic level the armored conduit is there for.
