It makes installations weather resistant and includes two weather gaskets (one for between wall and conduit spacer and one for between spacer and cover). 1) Which STI horn/strobe covers does the KIT-122 Enviro-Kit fit?
The KIT-122 Enviro-Kit is made for STI's Horn/Strobe Damage Stopper and polycarbonate enclosure covers, specifically models STI-1210B, STI-1210C, STI-1221B and STI-1221C. If the cover on your wall is one of those four, the gaskets and spacers in the kit are the matched weatherizing parts. Other STI cover families are not covered by this kit.
2) What exactly comes in the KIT-122 Enviro-Kit?

The four spacers stack to push the back box off the wall surface. 3) Do I need an Enviro-Kit for an outdoor horn/strobe cover installation?
If the STI cover is going outdoors or anywhere it gets hosed down, yes. The KIT-122 is what makes the installation weather resistant, sealing the two joints water would otherwise get through: wall to conduit spacer, and spacer to cover. Indoors in a dry corridor the cover alone is enough and the kit adds nothing.
4) Why does the KIT-122 include spacers instead of just gaskets?
The four 1/2 inch clear spacers extend the back box off the wall, which is what you want in wash down areas so water running down the wall is not sitting against the back box and the cover flange. The gaskets then seal each side of that spacer stack. In a food plant, kitchen, car wash or dairy, that standoff is the point of the kit as much as the gaskets are.
5) Can I buy the KIT-122 Enviro-Kit on its own to retrofit covers already installed?
Yes. The Enviro-Kit is sold as a standalone gasket and spacer kit, so you can add it to STI-1210B, STI-1210C, STI-1221B or STI-1221C covers already on the wall. You will be pulling the cover to set the gaskets and spacers behind it, since one gasket goes between the wall and the conduit spacer.
