Klein Tools PND125 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the difference between the Klein PND125 and PND1210 nut drivers?
Length only. Both are 1/2-inch magnetic power nut drivers with a 1/4 hex quick-connect shank. PND125 is the 5-inch version, PND1210 is the 10-inch. Go long when you need reach past a stud bay, strut channel or into a deep panel; the 5-inch is easier to control in tight enclosures.
2) Can this nut driver run down a long threaded rod or stud without bottoming out?
Yes, the shaft is hollow, so it swallows long bolts, studs or threaded rod as you drive the nut down. That's the main reason to pick it over a standard socket, which stops as soon as the fastener protrudes past the socket depth. The 10-inch PND1210 gives you more shaft to bury the rod in than the 5-inch PND125.
3) Does the 1/2-inch Klein power nut driver hold the nut by itself?
It's magnetic, so it picks up and retains a 1/2-inch hex nut or hex-head screw long enough to start it one-handed overhead or in a panel. Handy on strut, hanger rod and sheet metal work where you can't get a second hand on the fastener.
4) Can I use this as a hand driver too, or only in a power tool?
Both. The 1/4 hex quick-connect shank has a wrench assist, so you can put a wrench on it to break a stubborn nut loose or snug a fastener by hand instead of chucking it. It also fits the Klein Switch Drive handle for hand use.
5) Will a 1/2-inch nut driver fit 5/16-inch and 3/8-inch hex head screws?
No. This one is sized 1/2 inch across the hex only. Self-drilling sheet metal and strut screws are commonly 5/16 or 3/8 hex, so you'd need those sizes separately. Order the 1/2-inch PND125 or PND1210 for 1/2-inch nuts, lag screws and rod hardware.
6) Is this Klein nut driver made in the USA?
Yes, both the 5-inch PND125 and 10-inch PND1210 are made in the USA. That matters if you are buying under a domestic-preference or Buy American purchasing policy for a public or institutional job.
7) Can I use this nut driver to pry a panel or knock out a hole?
No. Klein specifically warns against using it to pry or chisel. Use it for driving only, wear approved eye protection, and follow the safety instructions in your power tool manual.
