Klein Tools 68411 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What sizes does the Klein Tools combination wrench come in?
Klein's combination wrench runs 16 SAE sizes, from 1/4 inch up to 1-1/4 inch: 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, 15/16, 1, 1-1/16, 1-1/8 and 1-1/4. Each size is its own part number, running 68410 through 68425 in that order. Order by the size you need, not by a set.
2) Will this wrench clear an obstruction around a bolt head in tight electrical work?
Both ends are angled for it. The box ends carry a 15-degree offset to clear obstructions around the fastener, and the open ends are also offset 15 degrees for confined working areas. Flipping the wrench over between swings gives you a finer effective swing in a crowded enclosure.
3) Are these Klein wrenches insulated for live electrical work?
No. These are plain forged alloy-steel wrenches with a nickel chrome plating, which is conductive. They are electrician's tools in the sense of size range and clearance geometry, not in the sense of shock protection. For energized work you need a tool specifically rated and marked as insulated.
4) Do both ends of this Klein wrench take the same size nut?
They do. The open end and the box end are the same opening, so one wrench handles one fastener size two ways. Useful when you need to start a nut fast with the open end and then finish it with the box end where there's more purchase.
5) Can I put a cheater bar on a Klein 68400 series wrench to break a stuck nut?
No. Klein states plainly not to extend the handle length, and not to push or hammer the wrench. Extending the handle puts torque through the head the tool was never sized for. For a seized fastener use a breaker bar and socket, and wear approved eye protection either way.
6) Are these metric or SAE wrenches?
SAE (inch) only. Every size offered is a fractional inch, from 1/4 through 1-1/4. If your equipment is on metric fasteners, this series will not fit it and you need a metric combination wrench.
7) Which Klein part number is the 1/2-inch combination wrench?
68414 is the 1/2-inch. The common electrical sizes sit close together in the numbering: 3/8 is 68412, 7/16 is 68413, 1/2 is 68414 and 9/16 is 68415. For MRO stockrooms standardizing, those four cover most strut, panel and conduit-clamp hardware.
8) Will these wrenches hold up in a damp mechanical room or outdoor service work?
The nickel chrome plating is corrosion resistant, so wipe-down maintenance is enough for damp plant rooms, rooftop units and general service truck duty. It is a plated finish, not stainless, so keep the ends clean and dry rather than leaving them sitting in standing water.
9) What accessories work with these Klein combination wrenches for tool tethering at height?
Klein lists three accessories against this wrench line: 5458, TT1 and TT2. If you're working elevated or over occupied space and your site requires dropped-object control, those are the matched items to order alongside the wrench.
