1) Is the Klein KARBN full brim hard hat rated for electrical work?
No, not for live electrical exposure. The KARBN pattern full brim is a Class C, Type 1 hard hat, and Class C means the shell is conductive with no electrical protection. It is a vented hat on a PC/ABS composite shell, so it is for impact protection to the top of the head only. If your crew needs dielectric protection, you need a Class E or Class G hard hat instead.
2) Does a Type 1 hard hat protect against side impact?
Type 1 means the hat is certified for impact to the top of the head, not lateral impact under ANSI Z89.1. That said, the Klein KARBN full brim is additionally tested to EN397:2012+A1:2012-5.2.4 for lateral deformation and to EN12492:2012 clauses 4.2.1.2, 4.2.1.3 and 4.2.1.4 for front, back and side impact. If your site spec calls for ANSI Type 2, this is not the hat.
3) What is the difference between Klein hard hat 60345 and 60347?
Ventilation is the only choice. Model 60347 is the vented version with large adjustable vents; model 60345 is the non-vented version. Both are Class C Type 1 full brim hats on the KARBN pattern PC/ABS shell with the same 4-point ratchet suspension.
4) Will this hard hat fit a large head, and is one size all we need to order for a crew?
One size covers hat sizes 6.5 through 8, so a single part number works across most of a crew. Adjustment is a large knob ratchet with pivot that can be worked one-handed with gloves on, and the neck pad pivots to clear bandana knots and ponytails.
5) Does a headlamp come with the Klein KARBN hard hat or is it sold separately?
This model ships with the Klein rechargeable headlamp, Cat. No. 56062, and its charging cable. The patented mounts on the front and back also accept Klein rechargeable headlamps 56048 and 56049 if you want a different output, and they clip in without straps or zip ties.
