1) What is the KSP 606 capping block and punch used for?
It's a locksmith bench tool for interchangeable core work. The capping block holds the core while the punch seats the cap pins that close off the pin chambers after the core has been pinned, which is how an IC core gets buttoned up once you've loaded the bottom pins, master wafers and top pins. It's shop equipment, not a door part, so nothing about it mounts in an opening.
2) Does the KSP 606 come with an interchangeable core, or is it just the tool?
Just the tool. The 606 is a capping block and punch, so cores are bought separately. If a core is what you actually need, ZenSupply carries the Corbin Russwin 8000-CT6 BLUE, a 6-pin interchangeable core supplied as a blue construction core.
3) Do I need a capping block if I'm only swapping construction cores on a jobsite?
No. Pulling a construction core and dropping in the permanent one is done with a control key, no tooling required. A capping block and punch like the KSP 606 only comes into play when you're pinning cores yourself at the bench and need to reseat the caps. Jobsite core swaps, such as replacing a Corbin Russwin 8000-CT6 blue construction core with the permanent core, don't need it.
