Blackburn LAC42WL2PSC LAC42 WITH SLEEVE AND PLUG

The LAC42WL2PSC is sized for #4 AWG stranded or #3 AWG solid conductor. It is a single-conductor compression lug, so the conductor has to fall in that range for the crimp to hold; a #2 or #6 run needs a different die code.

Crimp. The LAC42 is a compression terminal lug, so it is installed with a hydraulic or battery crimp tool and the matching die, not tightened down with an Allen screw. If you need to terminate in the field without a crimper, look for a mechanical set screw lug instead.

The lug barrel itself is bare, uninsulated metal with no insulating jacket on the connector body. What ships with it is an insulating sleeve and an end plug: the sleeve goes over the finished crimp for cover, and the plug seals the closed end of the barrel to keep moisture and compound out. If you need a factory-insulated one-piece lug, this is not it.

Orange is the color-coded die index for this lug, matching the crimp die and marking on the barrel so an inspector can confirm the correct die was used for the #4 stranded / #3 solid size. Match the tool die to the orange code, not to the wire gauge alone.

The slotted tang means the bolt hole is an open slot rather than a closed round hole, so you can slide the lug onto a stud or partly backed-off bolt instead of pulling the bolt all the way out. That is the practical difference when you are landing a conductor on a crowded busbar or a lug pad behind other terminations.
