1) What is the difference between the Locknetics IPB-100 and the IPB-100-N pushbutton?
Both are the same LED illuminated 2 inch pushbutton with three lenses and S.P.D.T. and D.P.D.T. switches in the box. The only difference is the plate: the IPB-100-N comes on a narrow plate, for mounting on a narrow stile door frame or a mullion where a standard single gang plate will not fit. If you have flat wall or standard box space, order the standard IPB-100.
2) Do I need to order the switch separately for a Locknetics IPB-100 request-to-exit button?
No separate switch to buy. Each IPB-100 ships with both an S.P.D.T. and a D.P.D.T. switch, so you can wire a single set of contacts for a simple door release or use the double pole switch when you need to break two circuits, for example releasing a mag lock and simultaneously signaling the alarm panel or a door controller input.
3) Which Locknetics pushbutton do I use on an aluminum storefront mullion?
Use the IPB-100-N. A standard 2 inch square button plate is too wide for most narrow aluminum stiles and mullions, and the -N is the same button and switch package on a narrow plate for exactly that mounting.
4) Will the Locknetics IPB-100 work with a magnetic lock or an electric strike?
It works with either, because the button is a dry contact device, not a power supply. The included S.P.D.T. switch gives you both normally open and normally closed contacts: wire the normally closed side in series to drop power to a mag lock, or the normally open side to trigger a fail secure electric strike or a controller input. Power for the lock comes from your supply, not from the button.
5) Can I change the wording or color on the Locknetics IPB-100 button face?
Three lenses come in the box with the button, so you pick the face at install time instead of ordering a specific legend up front. That is the practical reason to stock this one for a building: one part number covers several openings that need different button faces.
6) Is the Locknetics IPB-100 illuminated pushbutton suitable for a commercial building entrance?
