Locknetics RS200/RS210 Surface Mount Electric Rim Strike

The RS Series surface-mounted electric rim strikes are built for endurance and installation flexibility. Designed to accommodate rim exit devices with a 1/2" or 3/4" throw pullman latch bolt, the RS200/RS210 ships with multiple spacers and four attachment points to the frame for superior alignment and durability.

RS210 - Current Model (Effective January 3, 2023)

Locknetics transitioned from the RS200 to the RS210 model effective January 3, 2023. The RS210 is the direct replacement and is fully compatible with existing RS200 installations. If you are searching for the RS200, order the RS210.

Locknetics RS210-32D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Locknetics RS200/RS210 electric rim strike used for?
This surface mount electric rim strike works with cylindrical locksets and panic hardware. It mounts to the door frame surface rather than mortising into the jamb. Common applications include office buildings, schools, and commercial entries requiring fail-safe or fail-secure operation.
2) What door types and weights does this strike accommodate?
The RS200/RS210 works with standard commercial doors up to typical weight limits. Check the manufacturer's specifications for exact weight ratings. Verify your door width, thickness, and hardware configuration before ordering. The strike accommodates standard cylindrical lockset latches.
3) What is the difference between RS200 and RS210 models?
The RS200 and RS210 typically differ in operational modes or voltage requirements. One model may be fail-safe (unlocked when power fails) while the other is fail-secure (locked when power fails). Confirm the specific operational requirements for your application before selecting.
4) What voltage and power does this electric strike require?
Electric rim strikes typically operate on 12VDC or 24VDC low voltage systems. Check the model specifications for exact voltage and current draw requirements. Ensure your access control power supply can handle the strike's power consumption along with other connected devices.
5) How does the 1/2 inch depth affect installation?
The 1/2 inch depth refers to how far the strike projects from the frame surface. This shallow profile minimizes interference with door operation while providing secure latching. Measure your frame clearance to ensure adequate space for the strike body and proper door swing.
6) What building codes apply to electric rim strikes?
Electric strikes must comply with local fire and building codes. Egress doors typically require fail-safe operation for life safety. Check ADA requirements for operating force and accessibility. Verify compliance with NFPA 101 and local authority having jurisdiction requirements.
7) What tools are needed for installation?
Installation typically requires a drill, appropriate drill bits, screwdrivers, level, measuring tape, and pencil for marking. You may need a chisel for minor frame adjustments. Use the manufacturer's template for precise hole placement. Low voltage wiring tools are needed for electrical connections.
8) How do you wire the electric strike to an access control system?
Connect the strike to your access control panel's relay output terminals following the wiring diagram. Use appropriate gauge wire for the voltage and distance. Install proper conduit or wire protection as required by local electrical codes. Test operation before final installation.
9) How do you adjust the strike for proper door alignment?
Most electric rim strikes have limited adjustment compared to mortise strikes. Ensure proper initial positioning using the installation template. The door latch should engage the strike keeper fully without binding. Minor adjustments may be possible by repositioning the entire strike assembly.
10) What maintenance does an electric rim strike require?
Clean the strike periodically to remove dust and debris. Check mounting screws for tightness. Verify proper latch engagement and smooth operation. Test fail-safe or fail-secure operation regularly. Lubricate moving parts sparingly with appropriate lubricants per manufacturer recommendations.
11) What are compatible alternatives to this strike model?
Other Locknetics electric strikes may offer similar functionality with different dimensions or features. Consider mortise electric strikes if frame modification is acceptable. Verify voltage, operational mode, and physical compatibility before substituting models.
12) What field conditions affect electric strike performance?
Temperature extremes can affect operation in unconditioned spaces. Humidity and moisture may cause corrosion over time. High-traffic applications create more wear on moving parts. Consider environmental factors when selecting strike models and plan for more frequent maintenance in harsh conditions.
