Six. The Klein Tools 45201 lockout hasp has six locking holes in the body, each coated in red vinyl plastic, so up to six padlocks can be applied at the same time. That is what makes it a group lockout device: every worker on the job puts their own lock on, and the hasp cannot be opened until the last one comes off.

No. The 45201 is the hasp only. You supply your own safety padlocks, one per worker, with shackles no larger than 5/16 inch (8 mm) diameter. For a crew of six you would order six locks.

The hasp is tempered steel with a bright zinc-plated finish, and the construction is riveted rather than screwed. The six-hole locking body is coated in red vinyl plastic, which gives the visual warning color crews look for and keeps the metal off the gear it is clamped to.

The two legs of the Klein 45201 carry patented interlocking tabs, so when the hasp is closed the halves key into each other instead of just overlapping. That resists prying and twisting, which is the usual way someone defeats a simple scissor hasp. It is tempered steel throughout rather than stamped sheet.

Klein states the 45201 is to be used only in accordance with OSHA requirements, and it is built for the group lockout role those programs call for: a multi-lock hasp in warning red that each authorized worker secures with their own personal padlock. How it is applied, tagged, and verified is set by your facility's written energy control procedure.

Not by itself. The 45201 closes around an opening up to 1-1/2 inches, so it needs something to pass through: a disconnect handle, a hole in a switch handle, or a separate breaker lockout device fitted to the breaker first. On a molded-case breaker with no lockout hole, fit a breaker lockout attachment, then run this hasp through its padlock eye to give the whole crew a place to lock.
