Steel City LT-543 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size liquidtight conduit does the Steel City LT-543 connector take?
The LT-543 is a 1 inch trade size liquidtight connector, so it mates with 1 inch liquidtight flexible conduit and lands in a 1 inch knockout. Smaller or larger conduit needs a different size in the LT family.
2) Is the LT-543 metal or plastic?
Non-metallic. The LT-543 is a nylon body in gray, so it will not provide a metallic equipment grounding path the way a steel or die-cast liquidtight connector does. If the installation relies on the fitting and conduit for ground continuity, run a separate equipment ground conductor or use a metallic connector instead.
3) Can I use the Steel City LT-543 outdoors or in a wet location?
It is a liquidtight connector, so the design intent is sealing the conduit entry against liquid at the enclosure. The nylon body also avoids the corrosion issues that come with plated steel in damp areas. Match it to liquidtight flexible nonmetallic or metallic conduit in 1 inch and confirm the enclosure rating matches the environment you are installing in.
4) Does the LT-543 come with a locknut and sealing ring?
Liquidtight connectors of this style are supplied as a complete fitting: body, gland nut or compression ring for the conduit, and a locknut for the enclosure. Sealing at the enclosure wall against a gasketed box may still call for a separate sealing washer depending on the box you are landing in.
