1) Will a Master Lock 6621 padlock take the same key as my building's door locks?
The 6621 Weather Tough padlock is an interchangeable core style lock offered in 22 Key-in-Knob keyways, so it can be keyed to match the KIK cylinders already in your doors. It accepts a Lori #1539 style cylinder, and you can buy it with or without a cylinder if you would rather core and key it at your own facility. Cylinder options are rekeyable 5-pin and 6-pin.
2) What shackle lengths does the Master Lock 6621 padlock come in?
Four shackle heights: 1-1/8, 1-1/2, 2-1/2 and 5-5/8 inches. The short 1-1/8 inch shackle gives an attacker the least room for a bolt cutter or pry bar and is the one to use on a hasp or a standard staple. Go to 2-1/2 or 5-5/8 inches when you have to reach through a chain, a cable, or a gate latch that a short shackle cannot span. Shackle clearance between the legs is 7/8 inch (22mm) on all of them.
3) Will a 6621 padlock fit through my hasp and my gate chain?
Check two numbers. The shackle is 5/16 inch (8mm) in diameter, so the hasp slot or chain link has to pass a 5/16 inch bar. The gap between the shackle legs is 7/8 inch (22mm), which is what has to clear the thickness of your hasp staple or the two chain links you are locking together. The lock body is 2-1/8 inch (54mm) wide, so allow that much room beside the hasp.
4) Can I buy the 6621 padlock without a cylinder and key it myself?
Yes. The 6621 is sold with or without a cylinder so a locksmith or in-house shop can core and key it on site. It takes a Lori #1539 style cylinder, and both 5-pin and 6-pin rekeyable cylinders are available. If you are standardizing a property on one keyway, ordering the locks uncylindered and pinning them to your existing KIK keyway is usually the cleaner route.
5) What do I have to specify when ordering a Master Lock 6621 padlock?
Three things. Shackle length, from 1-1/8, 1-1/2, 2-1/2 or 5-5/8 inches. Whether you want it with a cylinder or as a shell to key yourself. And if you want it cylindered, which of the 22 Key-in-Knob keyways matches your system, plus 5-pin or 6-pin. Get the keyway wrong and the padlock works fine but not on your key.

Because it takes a Key-in-Knob cylinder in any of 22 keyways, one master or facility key opens the padlock and the doors, and when a key walks off you swap the cylinder instead of replacing the lock. A standard non-cylinder padlock is simpler and fine when the lock is a one-off with its own key and nobody needs it on the system. The tradeoff is that the 6621 needs a cylinder specified or supplied.
8) How well does the 6621 padlock hold up to someone prying or pulling on it?
A dual ball locking mechanism holds the shackle at both legs, which is what resists a pull or a pry against the heel of the lock, and the 5/16 inch (8mm) boron alloy shackle is the part that resists cutting.
