Connecting ASSA ABLOY Group brands Corbin Russwin and SARGENT next generation Power over Ethernet (PoE) enabled hardware is quick and easy with McKinney ElectroLynx® harnesses. Molex connectors connect the hinge to the harness, and a standard RJ-45 connector connects the harness to the electrified door hardware.

The following hardware uses the RJ-45 connectors:

  • Corbin Russwin IN220
  • Corbin Russwin Access 700 PIP1
  • SARGENT IN220
  • SARGENT Passport 1000 P1

Harnesses are available with the RJ-45 connector attached or loose in the package.The harnesses range in length from 30" up to 156" with custom lengths available (consult factory). A 30’ EPT Harness Assembly is available (PoE-CEPT30R) and includes a loose RJ-45 connector in the package.

1) What does the McKinney ElectroLynx PoE harness connect to on the door side?
The door-side ElectroLynx PoE harness runs from an electrified hinge to the lock. A Molex connector mates it to the hinge, and a standard RJ-45 connector plugs into the PoE door hardware. It is the transition piece between the hinge power transfer and the lock, not a hinge and not a power supply.
2) Which locks work with the McKinney ElectroLynx RJ-45 harness?
Four PoE devices are named for the RJ-45 connection: Corbin Russwin IN220, Corbin Russwin Access 700 PIP1, SARGENT IN220, and SARGENT Passport 1000 P1. If your opening uses one of those ASSA ABLOY PoE locks, this is the harness side that lands on it. Anything else, confirm the lock takes an RJ-45 input before you order.
3) What length ElectroLynx PoE harness do I need for my door?
Seven cable lengths are stocked: 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 84, and 156 inches. Measure the actual cable path, hinge location to the lock body plus the loop inside the door, not the door height. Short doors on a standard lock height usually land in the 36 to 48 inch range; the 84 and 156 inch runs are for tall openings or long routes.
4) Is this the harness or the electrified hinge? Do I need both?
This is the cable assembly only. It is the door-side leg that plugs into a Molex-equipped ElectroLynx hinge on one end and the PoE lock on the other. You still need the electrified hinge or power transfer itself, and the frame-side harness that carries the Ethernet run back to the switch. Ordering this alone will not power a door.
5) Does the ElectroLynx PoE harness come with the RJ-45 connector attached or loose?
Both ways are made. Attached means you plug straight in; loose in the package means the connector is terminated after the cable is pulled, which is what you want when the raceway or hinge prep will not pass an assembled RJ-45 head. Specify which you need when you order, because it changes how the cable gets installed, not what it does.
6) Can I use a regular Ethernet patch cable instead of the McKinney ElectroLynx harness?
No. Only one end is RJ-45. The other end is a Molex plug that mates to the ElectroLynx hinge, so a patch cord has nothing to land on at the hinge. The harness also exists in fixed door-transit lengths so the cable is not left long inside the door leaf.
7) Is the McKinney ElectroLynx PoE harness rated for commercial openings?
Commercial is the stated application. It is built for ASSA ABLOY PoE access hardware on institutional and commercial doors, the sort of opening a school, hospital, or office building standardizes on, not a residential entry.
8) What is the NRP option on the McKinney ElectroLynx harness order?
NRP stands for non-removable pin, an option offered alongside the harness order.
