ElectroLynx Harness Quick Connect Cables
If you are not ordering doors from ASSA ABLOY with the ElectroLynx® cable pre-installed in the door, you must order an ElectroLynx® retrofit cable to go between any hardware and the hinge. This includes 3" cables to go from the hinge to an exit device and up to a 15' cable to go up and around a full lite metal door.

McKinney QC-C003 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) McKinney QC-C ElectroLynx cable: what is the difference between Molex both ends and Molex one end, pinned one end?
Two end configurations, and every length is offered both ways. Molex both ends plugs straight in at the hinge and again at the hardware, for when both sides already carry the ElectroLynx quick connect. Molex one end, pinned one end gives you the plug at one end and pinned leads at the other, for hardware or a junction point with no mating connector that has to be terminated in the field. Conductor count is the same either way, 12 wires. Decide this before you order, because it is an option choice on the part, not something you change later.
2) What lengths does the McKinney ElectroLynx QC-C harness come in, and which one do I need for a full lite metal door?
Short jumpers first: 3, 6 and 12 inches. Then 26, 32, 38, 44 and 50 inches. Then the long runs, 15, 25 and 30 feet. A full lite metal door is the case the 15 foot cable is called out for, because the wire has to travel up and around the glass rather than straight across the door, and 25 and 30 foot cables are there for longer routes. Measure the path the cable actually takes through the door, not the door height, or you will end up short.
3) Will the ElectroLynx retrofit cable work with a McKinney full mortise hinge ordered with the MM electric transfer option?
That is exactly the pairing it is built for. The QC-C harness can be used in conjunction with the MM option on most full mortise hinges. The hinge gets the current across the gap from frame to door; the retrofit cable takes it from the hinge the rest of the way to the electrified hardware. If you are specifying a new opening, order the hinge with MM and the harness together so the connection lands right the first time.
4) I need to get power from the hinge to an electrified exit device. What cable do I use?
For a hinge-to-exit-device run the ElectroLynx QC-C is offered in a 3 inch length, which is the short jumper for that connection specifically. It carries 12 conductors, and you pick Molex on both ends if the exit device already has the ElectroLynx quick connect, or Molex one end with pinned leads on the other if it does not.
5) Does the ElectroLynx QC-C cable power the lock on its own, or do I need other parts?
It is a harness, not a power supply. The QC-C passes current from your power source, through the electric hinge, to the electrified hardware, so the opening still needs three other things: the power supply, an electric transfer hinge (the MM option on most full mortise hinges), and the electrified lock, strike or exit device at the far end. The cable is only the run between the hinge and that hardware. Budget one per opening, sized to that door's routing.
6) Why would I need a 12-wire ElectroLynx harness rather than a smaller one?
Conductor count sets how many circuits one cable can carry to a single opening. The McKinney QC-C runs 12 conductors, enough to feed an electrified lock or exit device and still carry the low-voltage signals an access control or remote door monitoring system reads back, over one harness instead of several. Every QC-C length and end configuration is 12-wire; length and end type are the only things that change from one part to the next.
7) We're retrofitting several openings for card access. Can we standardize on one ElectroLynx cable across the building?
Partly. Standardize on the end type, because that depends on the hardware you are specifying, not the door, and it is the same choice at every opening once you settle it. Length you cannot standardize: the cable has to match how far it actually runs inside each door, which is why the QC-C is offered from 3 inches up through 30 feet. A hinge-to-exit-device opening takes a 3 inch jumper; a full lite metal door where the wire goes up and around the glass is a 15 foot job. Walk the openings, note the routing on each, then order lengths per door and keep the end type common.
8) Is the McKinney QC-C1500P the same thing as a QC-C ElectroLynx harness?
QC-C1500P is one of the McKinney QC-C ElectroLynx quick connect harnesses, the 12-wire family sold under model QC-C. Within that family the part you order is defined by two things: the cable length and whether it has Molex connectors on both ends or a Molex plug on one end with pinned leads on the other. Give a distributor the length and the end configuration and you have specified the part.
