Position count is the number of metered units the socket stack serves. The Milbank U349 ringless sockets come in 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 position versions: U3492-XL-HSP (2), U3493-XL-HSP (3), U3494-XL-HSP (4), U3495-XL-HSP (5) and U3496-XL-HSP (6). For a four-unit building you want U3494-XL-HSP. Every position is 4 terminal, 100 continuous amps, single phase.
2) Will 4/0 aluminum service entrance cable land in this Milbank 100A meter socket?
Yes on the line side. The line terminals on these Milbank ringless sockets accept 6 AWG through 350 kcmil, so 4/0 lands fine. The load side is narrower at 6 AWG to 2/0 AWG, so plan your feeders to each unit accordingly. Both are lay-in terminals, which makes dressing the conductors easier in a crowded gutter.
3) Does this Milbank meter socket include a main breaker or disconnect?
No. These are meter-only sockets, with no main breaker and no bypass provision. Each tenant's overcurrent protection has to come from a separate panel or disconnect downstream.
