No. The U3784-RL has no main breaker and no main breaker provision (0 main breakers), so overcurrent protection has to come from somewhere else in the system. It gives you one meter position plus 3 branch circuit spaces for the load center section. If your utility or inspector requires a service disconnect at the meter, this is the wrong unit and you need a meter main combination instead.
2) What size service conductors will fit the line side lugs on this Milbank 200A socket?
The line side terminals take 6 AWG through 350 kcmil, and they are lay-in style, so you drop the conductor in rather than threading it through a barrel. That range covers typical 200 amp copper and aluminum service entrance conductors. Equipment grounding is handled by a 4 barrel ground lug.
3) Will a 4 terminal ringless socket meet my utility's meter requirements?
That depends on the utility, and it is worth a call before you buy. The U3784-RL is a 4 jaw ringless socket for single phase service up to 240 volts AC at 60 Hz. Four jaw sockets are the usual configuration for single phase 120/240 volt residential self-contained metering; utilities that require a ring-type socket, a bypass, or a 5 jaw or 7 jaw socket for network or three phase service will reject this one. There is no bypass provision in this unit.
4) Can this Milbank socket be used with an underground service lateral, or is it overhead only?
Both. Cable entry is rated for overhead or underground, and the unit ships with a small hub opening with a closing plate. For an overhead drop you fit a hub sized for your service raceway in that small hub opening; for an underground lateral you leave the hub plate in place and bring conduit in through the bottom. The hub itself is a separate item you specify to match your conduit size.
