The U4532-XL is rated 200 continuous amperes, 1 phase, 600 VAC, 60 Hz, with a single meter position and four jaws, which is the standard 4 terminal single phase residential arrangement. It carries no main breaker and no bypass, so your service disconnect has to live downstream in a separate panel or disconnect enclosure.
2) Can this meter socket be used for an underground lateral, or is it overhead only?
Either one. The U4532-XL is built for overhead or underground cable entry, so the same can works for a service drop or a lateral. It ships with a small hub closing plate, which is what you remove and replace with the correct hub when you are bringing conduit into the top for an overhead mast, or leave in place and enter from the bottom on an underground job.
