2) What is the difference between the U8100-RL and U8100-XL meter sockets?
Both are the same 125A 7-terminal ringless socket. The difference is the top of the enclosure: the U8100-RL comes with a small hub opening for overhead service entrance, and the U8100-XL comes with a small closing plate instead. If you are landing overhead conductors through a hub or weatherhead nipple, take the RL. If the top opening needs to stay sealed, the XL is the one.
