1) Is the Milbank UAPC 20A meter socket a CT-rated cabinet or a self-contained socket?
The Milbank UAPC is a current-transformer style meter socket, not a self-contained service socket. The 20 continuous ampere rating and the 12-10 AWG line and load wire ranges are the CT secondary wiring, not service conductors, and the family code is CT20. If you need to meter a 200A residential service directly, this is the wrong device - you want a self-contained socket sized to the service.
2) What is the difference between the 6 terminal and 13 terminal Milbank UAPC meter sockets?
Terminal count follows the metering configuration your utility specifies. The UAPC4511-O-TS0324 is the 6 terminal ringless plain top version with test switch included. The UAPC4512-O-TS0325 is the same plain top build with 13 terminals, and the UAPC7445-XL-551 is a 13 terminal with a small closing plate and the test switch prewired. Get the terminal count off the utility's meter spec sheet before ordering - a 6 terminal socket will not accept a meter set up for 13.
3) Can this Milbank ringless meter socket be mounted outdoors?
Yes. The UAPC enclosure is Type 3R, so it is built for outdoor wall mounting with protection from rain, sleet and ice. The aluminum body with a powder coat finish handles the exposure, and the whole assembly is UL Listed.
4) Is a ringless meter socket what my utility requires, or do I need a ring type?
That is set by the serving utility, not by the installation. Every UAPC version from Milbank is ringless, which means the cover seals to the socket with a sealing mechanism instead of a separate locking ring around the meter. Two of the builds are plain top and one uses a small closing plate. If your utility's meter spec calls for ring type, a ringless socket will not pass inspection.
5) Does the Milbank UAPC meter socket come with a main breaker or disconnect?
No. The UAPC is a meter socket only - no main breaker and no receptacles in the enclosure. Overcurrent protection and any service disconnect have to be provided in separate gear downstream or upstream as your design calls for.
6) Do I have to add a test switch separately to this Milbank socket?
No, a test switch is part of every UAPC version. On the UAPC4511-O-TS0324 and UAPC4512-O-TS0325 the test switch is included, and on the UAPC7445-XL-551 it comes prewired from the factory. Prewired saves field labor on the CT secondary landings; the included version lets you wire it your own way.
7) How do I land the ground and what wire size do the terminals take on this Milbank meter socket?
Equipment grounding is by ground lug in the enclosure. The terminals are single mechanical type and accept 12 to 10 AWG on both the line and load sides, which is the range CT secondary leads fall into. Anything heavier than 10 AWG will not land in these terminals.
8) Can I meter two units from one Milbank UAPC socket?
No. The UAPC is a single position socket, one meter per enclosure. Metering multiple tenants means one socket per service point or a multi-position meter stack instead.
