The spigot side is joined with PVC solvent cement (primer and cement per Nibco's plastic fittings installation instructions), and the male NPT side threads into a female fitting with thread sealant. 6) Will PVC DWV hold up in a drain line carrying corrosive waste?
PVC won't rust, scale, pit or corrode, and it has high corrosion and chemical resistance, which is why it gets specified on waste lines that would eat cast iron. The limit is heat: 140 degrees F max service temperature. Continuous high-temperature discharge, such as some commercial kitchen or lab waste, needs a different material.
7) Is a 2 inch PVC DWV male adapter the same schedule as my existing Schedule 40 drain pipe?
