1) How does the Nibco 816-S cleanout connect to copper DWV pipe?
The 816-S has a fitting (Ftg) end, meaning it is a male solder end that slips inside the socket of the next copper DWV fitting, plus a threaded cleanout opening with a plug. The body is cast bronze, ASTM B584 Alloy C84400, and it is dezincification resistant, which is the property that matters where water chemistry attacks the zinc in ordinary brass and leaves a porous, leaking fitting. It is a drain, waste and vent part, so it sees intermittent flow rather than constant pressure.
5) Does the Nibco 816-S cleanout come with the plug, or do I order that separately?
The plug ships with the fitting. The end configuration is fitting end by cleanout with plug, so one part number gets you both the body and the threaded access plug. You supply the solder, flux and any adapter needed on the fitting-end side.
